India has many great leaders and among them Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru holds a unique place. He was the first Prime Minister of Independent India.
Jawaharlal Nehru was born on 14th November 1889. He was a son of Motilal Nehru and Swaroop Rani Nehru. He had his primary education at home. In 1912 he returned India after taking his Bachelor's degree in law from the Cambridge University.
Jawaharlal Nehru took a keen interest in the freedom struggle. When India became Independent he became the first Prime Minister. He wanted India to be a peace loving nation. In order to support world peace, he made India a member of the U.N.O.. During his tenure various steps were taken to promote primary education and agriculture.
Such a great leader died on 27th May 1964. Because of his great qualities and his contribution he is considered to the among the greatest leader of our country.
